The Bassetlaw Heritage Network (BHN) is a forum that was created in 2022. The BHN allows Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Heritage organisations to come together and work collaboratively to raise the profile of the rich heritage of our the Bassetlaw district.
The original aims of the forum that were agreed at the first meeting are:
-
Collectively promote awareness of, and support engagement with Bassetlaw’s heritage and heritage projects taking place in the region.
-
Celebrate Bassetlaw’s heritage and the role it plays in the community and with visitors to the area.
-
Advocate for issues and opportunities relating to heritage in Bassetlaw, and link heritage to bigger themes particularly in relation to volunteer opportunities, funding, the economy, wellbeing and sustainability.
-
Encourage open dialogue and the exchange of ideas by sharing information, best practice, and experience amongst members and with associated agencies.
-
Make links across the heritage sector in the region to include landscapes, natural and rural heritage as well as built and cultural heritage.
-
Establish connections between ‘heritage’ organisations and ‘non-heritage’ organisations.
-
Make links and contributions to the wider work of heritage outside the region.
-
Keep the heritage community and other stakeholders informed of new developments, opportunities, projects and plans.
-
Promote cross-disciplinary collaboration and work together to develop and implement new projects and initiatives.
-
Open membership is to all groups and organisations with heritage interests and encourage and invite new members.
-
Arrange regular meetings, with a changing chair and hosted across the region. Hybrid arrangements should be offered if possible.
This will enable us to work together to celebrate and raise the profile of Bassetlaw Heritage, attract funding, and support growth of the visitor economy in Bassetlaw.
