Groundwork

Groundwork are offering volunteers aged 18-25 the opportunity to learn green skills, help local wildlife and improve physical and mental wellbeing. Volunteering will involve maintenance work along the Archaeological Way. It will occur every other Wednesday between 09.30am and 13.30pm with each session covering a different part of the Archaeological Way which will be confirmed with you. Volunteers are encouraged to bring gloves, however some will be provided if needed.

Hardwick Hall

This is a great volunteering opportunity for 18-25 year olds to learn about and contribute to the sustainability of a National Trust property.  

There are several volunteering days throughout 2025 focusing on a different area of sustainability within Hardwick Hall. You are able to choose which area you are most interested in, or come along to all, it is completely up to you!

Tree planting with Bolsover District Council

Volunteers aged 18-25 are invited to join us throughout the Bolsover District to help plant young saplings and engage with nature. Volunteers are encouraged to bring gloves and spades, however some will be provided if needed. Tree planting season will run until the end of February to give the saplings the best chance at surviving through their first summer. By tree planting you are helping to create positive, lasting change to help restore our Earth. Each session will be around 2 hours in length. The location of each session will be confirmed.

Freedom - Cherished Clothing

Do you love fashion, the environment and are aged 18-25? Then this opportunity is right for you! Freedom charity have a secondhand clothes shop open Monday to Friday 9am – 12pm. Volunteering here is flexible and you can choose what day suits you best. Buying clothing secondhand has a big social and environmental impact. Not only is it more affordable in times of need, it also helps to reduce carbon emissions, waste and use of natural resources. Reusing secondhand clothes also helps to prevent them from ending up in landfills. Cherished clothing offers hands-on experience working within a used clothing shop.

Freedom - Grow Your Own

Freedom charity are offering volunteers ages 18-25 the opportunity to volunteer on their community allotment. All the produce grown in this allotment is for the Freedom low cost Stepping Stone Food Pantry, which is accessible for those in need within our community. You will learn all about soil management and improvement, pest prevention and control, composting techniques, plant division, irrigation, propagation and much more. Not only learning green skills, but also improving physical and mental health. Grow your own runs Monday – Thursday 9am – 2pm and volunteers are able to pick which day best suits them.
