Hope House School is a small independent special school which is a charity and educates and supports people of all ages who have an autism spectrum disorder.We are set in open countryside just outside Newark in Nottinghamshire, and currently have places for 28 pupils on roll.Our aim is to provide a caring and calm environment where everyone feels valued, secure and able to learn.Hope House was described by Ofsted as This school has improved its premises, staffing and curriculum considerably since the previous inspection. Pupils benefit from a wide range of learning experiences, including excellent, extended animal care facilities. Ofsted 2017.Pupils study the full range of subjects. Those who are able to complete appropriate qualifications, including in English and mathematics. Pupils develop their independent living skills. This helps to prepare them for when they leave the school.Ofsted January 2020Their positive relationships with staff help pupils to engage with their learning. Staff model well the behaviour they expect of the pupils. They respond sensitively when pupils struggle to manage their own behaviour. When pupils become frustrated or distracted, staff calm them and help them to focus back on their work. Pupils have positive attitudes to their learning. They know that staff want them to do well.
