Do you need to make or update your will? Planning for your future now will ensure that your loved ones will be taken care of.
We are delighted to be working in partnership with Graysons Solicitors this October to offer FREE wills.
Graysons are offering individuals and couples the opportunity to make a simple will in the first week in October, in return for a suggested donation to Ashgate Hospice.

We’re proud to be the main charity partner of the Redbrik Foundation Chesterfield 10K on Sunday 16th October.
We need 75 volunteers, could you help?
An Event Marshal is one of the most important volunteer roles in any fundraising event helping make our events special and memorable for all. We need a team of people to help marshal the route, set up and clear up at the end of the event. You will be allocated a place along the route to make sure participants are going in the right direction and to provide support and encouragement.
If you have any questions and want to find out more about this role, please contact events@ashgatehospice.org.uk
Want to sign up to run for #TeamAshgate? Entry closes on the 2nd October so be quick!

‘Go Pink for Ashgate’ encourages people to Go Pink for the day or week, either by wearing, hosting or baking anything pink to fundraise and raise awareness of Ashgate Hospice – the wackier the pink idea the better! Wear it Pink, Party in Pink or Eat it Pink in return for a donation to Ashgate Hospice.
The ‘Go Pink for Ashgate’ week will run from 10 October and businesses; schools and individuals are being encouraged to organise their own pink-themed fundraising event or initiative and help us raise much needed funds to help us continue to support patients and their loved ones in North Derbyshire.
Can you wear something pink, eat something pink or hold a pink themed event and show your support in return for a donation to the Hospice? Hold a pink gin party, dress as a pink flamingo, wear pink bunny ears – do whatever you wish!
What will you do? Let us know your plans or if you would like to discuss possibilities, please email communityfr@ashgatehospice.org.uk or call Rachel Broughton on 07736 934960.

We are already thinking about Christmas, and we need your help!
We need volunteers (and vans!) to help us collect Christmas trees from 6 – 8 January 2023 to support our fundraising Treecycle Campaign.
From Friday 6 January to Sunday 8 January teams of Ashgate volunteers will be helping to collect hundreds of real Christmas trees across Chesterfield and neighbouring towns and transporting them to be recycled to raise money for Ashgate Hospice.
So, if you have a van, or access to a van you can use on 6, 7 or 8 January we would love to hear from you. To find out more contact Leah More on 07719 031 1495 or email events@ashgatehospice.org.uk

Central Technology
Central Technology have just funded an urgent syringe driver for our inpatient unit.
Vital to their care, a syringe driver is a small battery powered pump that delivers a steady stream of medication which helps to manage a patient’s symptoms in a comfortable way.
Syringe drivers are often used in the last few days or weeks of life, but they are not only useful at this stage. A syringe driver can also be used to manage someone’s symptoms at any stage of their illness, and enable patients to return home from our Inpatient Unit to be supported by our community teams.
“We’re extremely grateful that we’re in a position to help in this way, and we hope that other business’s can help Ashgate achieve their goal, as finding the funds is an enormous challenge for them at this time of financial uncertainty.”
Please contact Charlotte Gratton, on charlotte.gratton@ashgatehospice.org.uk if you can help fund vital hospice equipment. You can also read CT's blog here

Your support will help families like Dale Pashley’s, after his dad, Gordon Pashley, died last year, three days before Christmas. Gordon, from Creswell, was just 69 years old and had been diagnosed with a rectal tumour.
He received symptom management at the hospice’s Inpatient Unit before being cared for by the Palliative Care Specialist Nurses at his home, where he died in “peace and comfort” with family by his side. Dale, an Assistant Nurse Practitioner for the NHS, is so “grateful” his family received the support of Ashgate.
The 37-year-old, from Shirebrook, added: “The care my dad and our family received from Ashgate Hospice was just outstanding. “All the staff always went above and beyond and showed us so much care, compassion, commitment and courtesy to us all during a very difficult time.
“Ashgate is a comfortable relaxing environment for the patient, and nothing was ever too much trouble. “Dad’s wish was to stay at home with my mum Elizabeth and the rest of our family; with the support of the hospice, we were able to fulfil his wish.”

Each year the hospice cares for around 2,200 people and their families. The impact the hospice has on local lives is only possible thanks to our community and organisations like yours.
