You will be aware of the Youth Hub multi agency model we have in Chesterfield (Hunloke Centre) operating since Jan 2022 (and as a virtual offer across Derbyshire via 3 digital alternative channels) and wanted to let you know we have expanded this in order to support Young People aged 16-24 years in Shirebrook. From 23/8/22 (over an initial 6 week period) young people in Shirebrook will be able to access a similar one stop shop from Carter Lane Adult Ed Centre. The core partners include DWP Work Coach, NCS Careers Coach, DACES & we have linked with existing local provision including the Hole in the Wall.
Our vision for the Youth Hub was to expand the model to locations where youth unemployment is still an issue and adopt the same approach to supporting young people into employment, training, education, volunteering and supporting their well being.
Since 10/1/22 we have had 187 young people engage with the Youth Hub (we have planned for 300 in the initial year of funding, so are in track for this), with 22 Employment/Apprenticeship starts, 19 entering Training or Traineeships and with 110 receiving 121 support for Job Applications so far.
We hope that this pilot in Shirebrook (our first “pop up” Youth Hub) will not only better support young people in the Shirebrook community but perhaps help shape services for young people going forward across Derbyshire. For me I am sure there will also be links to UKSPF and Multiply in supporting this age group.
