Citizens Advice are looking to onboard new Independent Advice Agencies to deliver on our Energy Outreach Project.
This project aims to support consumers by providing energy advice either on a 1 to 1 basis or in a group setting. The main focus of this project is to deliver support to consumers via champions, in a community outreach setting, particularly aiming to reach those people who are less likely or less able to access support services already and who may be living in marginalised communities.
We are looking for organisations who may be able to commit to supporting 100-200 consumers between now and the end of March 2025. The areas of support are listed below:
- Providing advice on energy efficiency measures, behavioural change and saving tips. This includes actions the consumer can take in their home to reduce their bills and identifying grants available including Energy Company Obligation (ECO)
- Providing financial assistance to be spent towards energy bills, including access to grants that may be available through local schemes
- Support to households that are particularly at risk of fuel poverty or in emergency situations. This includes access to fuel vouchers and referral to food banks
- Understanding tariffs, bills and fuel options including switching methods
- Raising awareness of the Warm Home Discount (WHD) and the Priority Services Register
Advice delivered via Energy Outreach Project is not necessarily limited to the topics above, for example, fuel debt and smart meters could also be covered. However the focus of the project is to help consumers take action to improve their energy situation. The points above have been identified as the areas which will help consumers most.
The delivery of the project for this funding period needs to be completed by 31 March 2025. As the delivery window is quite short, it is hoped new organisations would be up and running as soon as possible.
If you know of any organisations in your area who may be interested in being involved, please could you share this email or the link to our Expression of Interest Form. There is more information about the project and the role of our delivery partners contained within this form.
