Managing your time and workload- 5th July
One of the most frequent things we say or hear is “I wish I had more time”. This session will introduce some practical tools and techniques to help you manage your time and your workload more effectively. We’ll share thoughts around planning and organising our work, prioritising our activities, dealing with email overload, valuing our time and dealing with time wasters. The approaches and ideas that we’ll cover will be just as useful in your personal life as they are in your working life. There’ll be a short time at the end of the session for questions and answers to help with any specific issues you may have.
Dealing with people- 12th July
Dealing with people can be challenging. However, it’s something that can be taught and becomes easier with support and practice. This session will discuss some key attitudes, skills and behaviours that will help you be more effective at dealing with people. We’ll share some practical approaches, tools and techniques to help you in your individual work. If you lead a team you’ll also take away some great hints and tips. There’ll be time at the end of the session for questions and answers to help you with any specific issues you may have.
Delegation: are you willing to let go? - 2nd August
Delegation skills are relevant to everyone, not just those people who manage others. If you do have any team members you can delegate to them, but you can also delegate upwards and sideways – provided you do it well and for positive reasons. There are many advantages to you if you delegate work effectively and appropriately. This interactive session will explore the benefits of delegation and why we don’t delegate. We’ll think about what can be delegated and the key skills and behaviours that a great delegator needs. We’ll share a practical checklist to help you think about and develop your delegation skills so you can put them into practice. There’ll be time at the end of the session for questions and answers to help you with any specific issues you may have.
Planning Personal Development- 9th August
Are you neglecting your own development? Would you like to be more effective at developing the people who work for you if you have any? Many people involved in the voluntary or charity sectors focus on their organisations but neglect themselves. This session will introduce a process that will help you to produce a realistic, actionable and cost-effective development plan and solutions. This plan will be focused on the areas you really need to develop. We’ll share some practical tools and approaches to help you identify the most effective ways of developing your skills, knowledge and behaviours. You’ll take away a template that you can use straight after the session. If you’ve got any team members you can also use the template to help them build their development plans and ultimately improve the performance of your organisation. There’ll be a short time at the end of the session for questions and answers to help with any specific issues you may have.

Emotions: The roles they serve and their regulation- 27th September
In this session we will consider why emotions are important and the roles they serve in our daily lives. We will consider how all emotions can be understood in terms of the threat, drive and soothing systems and we will explore situations when emotions tied to threat, drive and soothing occur. As part of this session, activities will include identifying which system you are currently in and which systems you have been in recently. We will also introduce a first simple practice to help achieve balance between the three systems, enabling you to feel less stressed and more relaxed.
Tricky Brains, Emotion Physiology and techniques for wellbeing- 4th October
In this session, after a simple ‘check-in’ activity supporting deeper reflection on the three emotion systems and how they are balanced for you, we will consider why for most individuals, drive - and especially threat – emotions, are often more prominent. This is the ‘Tricky Brain’ dilemma. We will then consider how different emotions affect our brains, bodies and immune system – so our physical, as well as, mental health. We will introduce two further simple practices to help you achieve balance between the three systems, enabling all to feel less stressed and more relaxed.
Communicating with Compassion- 18th October
This week we will explore how we can be more compassionate when communicating with others. We will explore a mixture of helpful and unhelpful behaviours that might occur and understand what we can do to support both ourselves and others, to communicate more effectively in group settings.
