Mental health training for professionals

Calling all barbers, hairdressers, and other beauty professionals. 

We're funding The Lions Barber Collective to hold free mental health training to help you have conversations with your clients about how they may be feeling.

The next free four-hour training session for Derbyshire hair and beauty professionals is on Monday 31 July 2023. The online session runs from 10am - 2pm.

Two further course dates will be released for August and September

RSE Day

RSE Day is a day to celebrate healthy relationships and sex education and this year's theme is Launch into Kindness.

It's a great opportunity to talk to your children about what makes a healthy, safe relationship.

Staying safe in the heat

It's been pretty warm over the last few weeks, and while the sunshine can give us a boost, it can also cause some health problems.

Older people and people with heart, respiratory and other serious health problems are most vulnerable when the temperature starts to rise.

The main risks posed by a prolonged spell of hot weather, or a heatwave, are:

• dehydration
• overheating
• heat exhaustion and heatstroke

July is Talk to Us month – to raise awareness that the Samaritans are on hand to listen to anyone who's struggling to cope, at any time of the day or night.

Alcohol Awareness Week runs 3 - 9 July and is a chance to get people thinking about drinking.
