Service Overview

The Derbyshire Recovery and Peer Support Service provides practical, goal-based support to help individuals develop tools to manage their mental health independently. The service also supports a network of peer led support groups across the county, providing each group with an individualised package of funding, training, and ongoing development support. We provide an Emotional Support Helpline to anybody who requires this support, details further below.

 

Mental Health Map Derbyshire

The interactive map is up and running, providing a live collective of mental health and wellbeing support and provision across Derbyshire and Derby City. If you would like your service, organisation, or group to be visible on the map, then please fill in the attached proforma and return completed to the address provided. Once a proforma is submitted, you will receive a quarterly prompt with the proforma attached to ensure we have the most up to date details for your map submission.

Peer Support Groups

We support a network of peer led support groups across the county, providing each group with an individualised package of funding, training, and ongoing development support. Peer Support Group Focus for June:

North Derbyshire –

Natterjacks Online Group – If you are struggling to find our feet now that the covid-19 restrictions have been lifted, this supportive online group is for you. Expect friendly faces and a space to find peer support, helping one another to think positively about today and the future. The group is held over zoom every Tuesday. Matlock Sew What? is a friendly and inclusive textiles group for anyone living with mental illness. Join us to learn new skills, meet others and focus your mind! For any enquiries or to join the group, get in touch with the group development worker April on apri.parker@rethink.org or Tracey, the facilitator on matlocksewwhat@outlook.com.

Central Derbyshire – 

Mental Health Wellbeing Hub, The Hub @ Low Pavement in Chesterfield https://dva.org.uk/the-hub-low-pavement/ Free to access, no referral needed, face to face support.

South Derbyshire –

Inner Harmony Yoga – A safe and supportive yoga and social group for anyone with a mental health diagnosis. This is a free session for beginners held at the Swadlincote fire station community room 10am – 12pm every Thursday, the group is run by a fully qualified instructor. The Hubs

We have several hubs across Derbyshire that are free and open to anyone over the age of 18. The hubs are there for individuals to come and chat confidentially to a friendly face for information on what is affecting their wellbeing, look at practical options to get them on the right path to where they need to be as well as appropriate signposting.

Chesterfield: Every Wednesday, Chesterfield Wellbeing Hub, 10:30am-12:30pm

Shirebrook: Every Thursday, Church Hall Shirebrook, 11am-12pm

Bolsover: 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month, 12 Nesbit Street Hillstown Bolsover, 10am-11pm

Ripley: Currently on hold

Gamesley: 1st and 3rd Monday of every Monday @ Café Jericho 1:30pm-3:30pm

Buxton: Currently on hold

Glossop: First Monday of every month, The Bureau Glossop, 10am-12pm

Ashbourne: Every other Tuesday, Elim Church, 1pm-3pm

We are always looking for other organisations and individuals who would like to get involved with the hubs on a regular basis as well as providing sessions. 1:1 Support

Practical, goal-based support to help individuals develop tools to manage their mental health independently. Everyone will develop a personalised support plan to work towards with an allocated mental health recovery worker:

To make a referral into service:

  • Call 01773 734989 (option 1) to make a referral over the phone
  • Complete attached form and return to:

derbyshirerecoverypeersupportservice@rethink.org

  • If you would like to discuss a potential referral prior to making one, then please contact samantha.beacon@rethink.org  
  • We accept self-referrals and referrals made on behalf of somebody else. Please ensure you have discussed the referral and have consent to submit a referral if you are referring somebody into service.

Criteria: Referrals must be aged 18+ (or 17 in transition from CAHMS to Adult Services), be living in Derbyshire (or accessing support from Derbyshire based services) and their primary support need must be their mental health. We are not able to accept referrals from people living within Derby City.

The current waiting times are as follows:

High Peak, Derbyshire Dales, and South Derbyshire 1-3 weeks.

Erewash is 4-6 weeks.

Chesterfield, Clay Cross, Killamarsh, Amber Valley and Bolsover are all 4-8 weeks.

Community Development in Derbyshire

After a long pause, The Gamesley Wellbeing Hub will be reopening on 20th of June running from the wonderful Café Jericho 13.30 – 3.30pm. Come along to speak to one of us for any information advice, support, signposting, or a referral if needed.  If you would like your service to join us on a rota basis, please contact the Mental Health Community Development Lead on 07483337279.

We are currently looking for the following:

We provide an incredible package of support to our volunteers within the service. Everyone, no matter their role receives:

  • Training courses
  • Regular 1-1 supervisions
  • Personal Development Opportunities

TECH BUDDIES WANTED! We are looking to recruit more Tech Buddy Volunteers to help support our project that has supported so many living in isolation to become more digitally connected, more information about the scheme below:

An innovative scheme developed to address the digital isolation faced by so many living in Derbyshire with a mental health concern. We are on the lookout for volunteer Tech Buddies to provide an invaluable support to those who need it most.
