Service Overview

The Derbyshire Recovery and Peer Support Service provides practical, goal-based support to help individuals develop tools to manage their mental health independently. The service also supports a network of peer led support groups across the county, providing each group with an individualised package of funding, training and ongoing development support. We provide an Emotional Support Helpline to anybody who requires this support, details further below.

 

Mental Health Map Derbyshire

The interactive map is up and running, providing a live collective of mental health and wellbeing support and provision across Derbyshire and Derby City. If you would like your service, organisation or group to be visible on the map, then please fill in the attached proforma and return completed to the address provided. Once a proforma is submitted, you will receive a quarterly prompt with the proforma attached to ensure we have the most up to date details for your map submission.

Peer Support Groups

We support a network of peer led support groups across the county, providing each group with an individualised package of funding, training and ongoing development support. Peer Support Group Focus for January

 

North Derbyshire – Natter Jacks is an online support group for those who are struggling with their anxieties due to COVID. The group has now moved over to zoom and will start back on Tuesday 4th Jan at 7pm. For any enquiries, please contact natterjacks1@outlook.com or call the DRPSS Single Point of Access on 01773 734989 and ask for a Group Development Worker. 

 

Central Derbyshire –  Matt Parr (Get Out Get Active) Get Out Get Active - Home GOGA has partnered with George GM georgegm19@yahoo.com to offer a taster Boxercise class at the Belper Leisure Centre in the new year (Thursday 6th January 12 pm) there are 10 places available so please contact George on the email above to book your place.

 

South Derbyshire - Hilton Arts and Crafts are an arts and crafts group for anyone wanting to learn new crafts in a supportive environment. They are hosting an open day event on Thursday 13th January 10am -12noon in the Jubilee room at Hilton Village Hall. The taster event is a stone painting session and is completely free with all resources provided. No need to book but you can register your interest on their Facebook event page or by emailing hilton.acmh@gmail.com

1:1 Support

Practical, goal-based support to help individuals develop tools to manage their mental health independently. Each individual will develop a personalised support plan to work towards with an allocated mental health recovery worker:

To make a referral into service:

  • Call 01773 734989 (option 1) to make a referral over the phone
  • Complete attached form and return to derbyshirerecoverypeersupportservice@rethink.org
  • If you would like to discuss a potential referral prior to making one, then please contact ellise.melia@rethink.org
  • We accept self-referrals and referrals made on behalf of somebody else. Please ensure you have discussed the referral and have consent to submit a referral if you are referring somebody into service.

Criteria: Referrals must be aged 18+ (or 17 in transition from CAHMS to Adult Services), be living in Derbyshire (or accessing support from Derbyshire based services) and their primary support need must be their mental health. We are not able to accept referrals from people living within Derby City.

The current waiting times are as follows:

High Peak and Derbyshire Dales, Amber Valley, Chesterfield, Clay Cross, Killamarsh & Bolsover, Erewash, and South Derbyshire are all 1 week.

 

Emotional Support Helpline

Our helpline is available for anyone to call should they need someone to speak to or someone to listen to them. Referrals can be made through this option if appropriate. This is not a crisis support line.

Community Development in Derbyshire

Gamesley Wellbeing Hub will be opening on 24th January 13.30 – 15.30 at The Jericho Café. The hub will run bi-weekly and will be a place individuals can get advice, support and information, on issues that may be affecting their wellbeing. If your service would like to be involved on a rota basis or for more information, then please contact the community development worker on - 07483337279

 

Tech Buddies

TECH BUDDIES WANTED! We are looking to recruit more Tech Buddy Volunteers to help support our project that has supported so many living in isolation to become more digitally connected, more information about the scheme below:

An innovative scheme developed to address the digital isolation faced by so many living in Derbyshire with a mental health concern. We aren’t currently accepting new referrals to receive support until the New Year, but we are always on the lookout for more Tech Buddies to provide an invaluable support to those who need it most.
