Get involved in designing the look and feel of the £24m Urgent and Emergency Care Development at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is offering the chance to have your say on the look and feel of the brand new £24m Urgent and Emergency Care Development. The Urgent and Emergency Care Development is due to open in Summer 2023 and will offer a state-of-the-art environment that enables us to truly transform services, ensuring patients get the support they require based on their clinical needs, be it a minor illness or injury, major emergency or critical care. The short questionnaire is one of series of engagement tools being used to get feedback on the interior design, use of colour and artwork as well as the themes which would make the department not only clinically and operationally effective but also to be as pleasant as possible. Further to this, last week, the Trust also started construction of the purpose-built Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU) on the hospital site. The PAU is designed to reduce the number of emergency admissions to hospital, provide a single point of care and reduce the amount of time spent in hospital. Currently, the PAU operates within a dedicated bay on the paediatric ward; this development will massively improve this offer to our communities and provide dedicated, modern facilities to ensure infants, children and young people with acute illness, or other urgent referrals can be assessed, investigated, observed and treated faster. Dedicated colleagues within the unit will also ensure timely assessments and reviews of our younger patients, which is exactly what they and their loved ones want. Designed in consultation with our clinical teams the PAU will consist of six assessment beds including a dedicated space for older children, there will also be three clinical assessment rooms; and a large play area to enable observation via play for younger children.   Responses are required by 28 February 2022.
