Autism Information and Advice Service - Autism Information and Advice Service have made some improvements: 

  1. Expanded Drop-In Sessions. These are three monthly (across Derbyshire and Derby City, face to face), providing a welcoming and informal environment for autistic individuals, their families, and caregivers to connect, share experiences, and access essential resources.
  2. Monthly Autism Alliance Meetings. Improved monthly Autism Alliance meetings bringing together community members, advocates, and professionals for peer support.
  3. Face-to-Face Parent and Carer Training Sessions. New monthly training sessions to equip parents and caregivers with practical knowledge and strategies to better understand and support their loved ones with autism.
  4. Comprehensive Monthly Autism Awareness Training. Multiple autism awareness training sessions to deepen the community's understanding of autism and promote acceptance.
  5. Information-Guidance Helpline. Helpline services to support individuals who require information and guidance on all Autism related matters. Opening hours for the helpline are 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday – there is some flexibility around this.

Public Governor Elections – If you are interested in becoming a Public Governor for Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation Trust take a look at the attached poster. The Trust’s governors have an important role working alongside Trust staff to represent the the needs and views of their local members, with a shared aim to improve local NHS services.

 

Derbyshire Mind Online Class Movement and Mindfulness this Wednesday - The class merges yoga with mindfulness and breath techniques. The aim is to bring a sense of calm and grounding to all, which will help to alleviate stress and anxiety. You will also be provided with a toolkit of techniques that can be taken away and utilised in everyday life. It is a 12 week online class that will run every Wednesday morning at 10am for 1 hour.

The classes will be independent of each other, so there is no requirement to attend all of the sessions. Starting from 22nd November to the 7th February 2024

Each class will consist of:

  • A yoga sequence (strong emphasis on the breath)
  • A breathing technique or mindfulness exercise (that can be incorporated into everyday life)
  • A guided relaxation
  • Each class will have different theme based around mindfulness

 

All sessions are open to adults (18+) who are experiencing common mental health symptoms such as low mood, worry and anxiety, stress, loneliness, and wish to improve their mental wellbeing. All Sessions are free.
