Items to follow:

Anxiety Research Webinar – Wednesday 5th June 2024 7-8pm.

You are invited to a webinar to ask questions of a leading specialist about the latest research into anxiety.   Professor Thalia Eley will take questions in a live ‘ask the expert’ event hosted by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). It takes place online on Wednesday 5 June from 7pm to 8pm (GMT).

Thalia is Professor of Developmental Behavioural Genetics at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London, and co-lead of the Genetic Links to Anxiety and Depression (GLAD) Study. She also runs the EDIT lab, a group of researchers focusing on what factors may influence why people respond differently to life’s experiences. Specifically, she is interested in exploring which psychological treatments work best for different individuals and whether their genetics may play a part in how people respond.

Guests must sign up in advance using the event registration form, where they can enter their question for the expert. They will also be able to ask their question during the event in the text box provided. Those unable to attend can provide their email address using the form so they can be sent a link to a recording of the event.

The event is hosted by the NIHR, a Department of Health and Social Care-funded organisation that works to improve the health and wealth of the nation through research. It will be hosted on video conferencing service Zoom, which can be accessed through a computer browser or the Zoom app for devices.

For queries, contact researchsupport.crngm@nihr.ac.uk

Interested in being part of research? Participating in health research helps develop new treatments, improves the NHS, public health and social care and saves lives.  For participation opportunities in research into all different areas of health and care, people can register with the NIHR's Be Part of Research service.

People interested in this webinar may like to take part in the Genetic Links to Anxiety and Depression (GLAD) Study. This is a project set up to support studies exploring risk factors for depression and/or anxiety. Taking part involves completing an online questionnaire and providing a saliva sample. People aged 16 and over, regardless of whether they have a history of mental health conditions, are welcome to take part.
