PARISH COUNCIL SEEKS GROUNDSMAN

Misterton Parish Council wishes to appoint a part-time groundsman/lengthsman, working a flexible 10 hours a week. Duties include general village maintenance like litter picking, village sign cleaning, minor repairs to street furniture, and tidying of overhanging highways vegetation. Also there’s weeding and minor maintenance of Council assets, including the Sports ground, Jubilee Gardens, Church Meadow, and the War Memorial. Basic paperwork is necessary and inspection of play areas.

Full personal protective equipment and training will be provided as required. The pay is £10.90 per hour (National Living Wage) plus holidays and pension provision.

This is a new role and will require some degree of flexibility. It is outdoors, all year round, in all weathers. It would suit someone who enjoys walking and making a difference to the pride and appearance of the village and can use their initiative and undertake a range of tasks. Knowledge of the village would be an advantage. A full job description is available. To apply, give details of any relevant experience and why you believe you would suit the role and send it to the Clerk to the Council by e-mail (theclerk@misterton-notts-pc.gov.uk) or post to: Misterton Parish Council, The Misterton Centre & Library, 52 High Street, Misterton DN10 4BU. The closing date is Friday 21 April 2023.

EASTER IN MISTERTON

There are plenty of things to do this Easter! Misterton Library’s volunteers are breeding chickens, judging by the number in the Library. Ever-more chicks are appearing - overcrowding may lead to a mass break out! If you find one out in the village, please bring it back to the Library and swap it for a creme egg.

On Thursday 13 April, from 2.30-4.30pm, there’s an Easter egg hunt in the Library with lots of activities for kids.

There's also an Easter egg hunt around Retford town centre. It is underway now and runs until Saturday 8 April. Entry forms are available at Retford Arts Hub, The Chocolate Kitchen, and Edinburgh Woollen Mill, where the prize draw entry box is located. Prizes include an Easter chocolate selection from The Chocolate Kitchen, a vegan Easter Egg by Hotel Chocolat, and a signed copy of The Last Bear and a tote bag with ‘goodies’ from The Wonderland Bookshop.
