MISTERTON GALA – ANOTHER GREAT SUCCESS! (+ pix)

Many thanks to the Gala team for making this year's event such a success. Blessed with good weather (apart from the wind, which 'attacked' some of the gazebos!), it went off without a hitch. Hundreds turned up to support the annual village event – and thanks also to the stallholders; those who volunteered to help on the day; the First Responders team; Be’dazzled and Everett Fox School of Dance; Misterton Fire & Rescue Service, live musicians - and many more. Too many to mention but you know who you are! Pictured are some of the many activities; there are more pictures on Misterton Parish Council’s Facebook page. Proceeds from the Gala (after expenses) will go to Five Villages First Responders.

VISIT LOCAL VILLAGE CHURCHES FOR CHARITY

Notts Historic Churches Trust has recently supported the refurbishment of the roof of St Mary’s Church with the promise of a substantial grant. So now’s the time to saddle up to raise funds for the Trust by taking part in this year’s Ride & Stride on Saturday 9 September. It’s a chance to cycle, walk, ride on horseback… use any means of transport to attract sponsors and to visit churches; the total money raised is split between the Trust and the participating church you support. Visit as many as you can – set yourself a challenge. Can you visit all the churches in the Oswaldbeck Benefice: Beckingham, Clayworth, Gringley, Misterton, Walkeringham, and West Stockwith?

There are eight reasons to get involved:

  • saving beautiful buildings for the next generation
  • explore the fine heritage these special buildings have to offer…
  • … and you won’t have to travel far to see it
  • anyone can take part
  • get a physical and mental boost
  • come closer to nature, too
  • there’s a photography competition
  • and free refreshments!
