Mental Health Awareness Week 15 – 19 May
The theme for this year's Mental Health Awareness Week is ‘anxiety.’ Anxiety is a normal emotion in us all, but sometimes it can get out of control and become a mental health problem. Focusing on anxiety for this year's Mental Health Awareness Week will increase people's awareness and understanding of anxiety by providing information on the things that can help prevent it from becoming a problem. Read the tips on how to cope from the Mental Health Foundation. |

Trent Bridge Community Trust
At Trent Bridge Community Trust we’re working to support the health and wellbeing of our local communities. Here are some of our projects:
Weight management
The launch of our weight management project in March has proven to be extremely popular. We’ve been able to create a supportive group environment with physical activity and healthy eating at the heart of each session. All three venues were fully booked in advance of the launch date for each programme and results have been really positive with 75% of service users losing weight at the four-week weigh in. Physical activity sessions have included circuit training, gym-based exercise and team games while workshops have covered a variety of issues such as energy balance, eating out and on the go, physical activity types and target setting. The programme targets Nottingham City residents with a BMI over 25 (or 23 if from South Asian descent or any other ethnicity with comorbidities). Our next cohorts start in June so if you know anyone who would benefit please contact Callum, our project lead: callum.pharoah@trentbridge.co.uk

Forget Me Notts
This is our dementia programme which has been running for several years and already has a strong reputation. Currently we have 200 people registered with us. Many of these attend at least one of our 11 monthly sessions. FMN has developed over the years and supports not only those living with dementia but also their carers’ wellbeing. I’ve attached a flyer for details of venues, dates and times. We’re always looking for referrals so if you know of anyone who would benefit, please contact Ian for details: ian.richardson@trentbridge.co.uk
Workplace health and wellbeing
We’ve developed a number of bespoke workplace health and wellbeing packages for different employers who need external, specialist support. Recent beneficiaries include employers whose staff have a range of issues focussing on managing anxiety, improving confidence, expressing yourself, managing conflict and memory issues such as “brain fog”. We deliver strategies to help people improve their memory, manage anxiety and provide mindfulness aids. We’re happy to meet discuss how we can support your workplace and can provide team building and/or physical activities, games and discussion workshops to ensure staff feel valued, reduce the risk of sickness and promote positive morale in the workplace.
Notts in Mind
We’re currently delivering our mental health and wellbeing programme, Notts in Mind, in Cotgrave and have some great success stories in supporting the women who attend. There have been a wide range of positive outcomes as the beneficiaries find meaningful activities to take part in, as well as peer support.
Carers Group
Following a number of conversations with local people, we launched our Carers Group at Cotgrave Leisure Centre. This takes place every two weeks on Wednesdays from 1.30-3pm. Please contact Ian (above) for more information.
Memory Club
We also launched our Memory Club at the ICCA (Indian Community Centre Association) on Hucknall Road, Nottingham. This takes place every second Tuesday from 1-3pm. Again, please contact Ian (above) for more details.
