The Clockwork Dragon with author Jonathan Emmett

Join the brave and inventive Max and Lizzie as they devise a cunning plan to scare away Flamethrottle, a greedy, man-eating dragon. Jonathan Emmett visits Sutton-in-Ashfield and Mansfield Central Libraries to talk about his book The Clockwork Dragon. Then create your own Clockwork Creature using a cut-out-and-stick kit of parts.

For children aged 4-8 years

Get Creative at our Library Lab this Summer

Join Inspires 2022 author and artist in residence Alice Harmon and Pete Gray for a workshop that’s packed with smart sketches and spectacular science facts.

Pete will reveal some clever tricks that are guaranteed to make drawing super easy, fun, and you can hunt for facts with Alice, turn scientific information into a creative and entertaining double page book spread!

For children aged 4-11 years and their families.

Suitable for children in school years 3-8

Our Adventure Holiday club is back for summer, bookable in weeklong blocks every week throughout August.

Children will have the opportunity to try new activities, learn new skills and make new friends all while having fun.

Activities include, climbing, canoeing, raft building, mountain biking, tunnelling, shelter building, bush-craft, low ropes, high ropes, zip wire and much more!

Venue: Sutton in Ashfield / Various Notts Outdoors sites.
Date: Throughout August.
Prices: £135 per week (with the option of purchasing an early drop off and late collection, ideal for working families).

Suitable for young people in school years 8-10.

Academy Adventurers will experience a range of adventurous activities on site and potentially off site, with two overnight stays.

Adventurers will also have the opportunity to participate and develop skills in a variety of activities (land and water based) including: climbing, tunnelling, zip-wire, high ropes, low ropes, kayaking, canoeing, raft building, biking and more.

Venue: Notts Outdoors sites
Date: 5 August
Prices: £225 for the week of activities and two overnight stays

Myths and legends with the Master at Arms

Join William De Tankerville, The Sheriff of Nottingham’s Master at Arms, as he takes you on a tour of the majestic Greenwood, sharing stories of medieval life and the villainous Robin Hood.

This walk will take you on a journey through the forest, hearing the tales of its most legendary inhabitant and medieval life.

The walk will last approximately 90 minutes, and please bring suitable clothing and footwear.

Sorry, no dogs on this walk.

Venue: Sherwood Forest
Date: 23 July and various thereafter.
Prices: Adults: £7.50 (£6 RSPB members) Children: £5 (£4 RSPB members)

Have a go Archery

Today, you can find out what it takes to develop the accuracy and power to loose an arrow and hit your target.

These brilliant quickfire have-a-go archery sessions take place under the tuition and coaching of qualified instructors, so you will quickly develop the techniques you would have needed to run with the outlaws and repel the Sheriff’s forces in Sherwood Forest centuries ago.

Not recommended for children aged three and under.

Professor Paul Temples Punch and Judy Show

Set up your blanket, sit back and enjoy a Punch and Judy show where our modern day version of the classic seaside show will keep you giggling all day long! You might even be able to pick up one of Professor Paul’s wiggly worms!

Holme Pierrepont Country Park

Join us for the ultimate outdoor Adventure Holiday Club. Kids can enjoy whizzing around our Sky Trail and the adventurous Climbing Wall. There's water based fun too with the BRAND NEW Lagoon Wipeout and the more traditional Kayaking, Canoeing, Raft Building.
