Opportunity Description: Are you passionate about technology and eager to make a positive impact in your community? We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join our exciting Digital Connect Project and help bridge the digital divide in North East Derbyshire.
Why This Project Matters: Digital exclusion is a significant issue, particularly for older, disadvantaged, and vulnerable individuals. Many people in our community lack the necessary digital skills and access to technology, leading to social isolation and difficulties accessing essential services. Our project aims to provide vital digital support, reduce social isolation, and improve the overall wellbeing of our community members by enhancing their digital literacy and confidence.

Working with local venues within North East Derbyshire we offer residents easy access to digital training. Focusing on the digital skills needed to safely benefit from and participate in and contribute to the digital world, including;

Using devices and handling information
Creating and editing
Communicating
Transacting
Being safe and responsible online

Who we are looking for: What will you do?
Show clients how to use digital devices and access digital services on the internet.
Help clients to understand how to stay safe online
Build clients` confidence
Keep records up to date
Support clients through 1-2-1, group or drop-in sessions
Engage with other volunteers to deliver training
Help to promote digital connect in North East Derbyshire
Requirements: Own vehicle or have access to a vehicle
Suitable for:

You don’t need any specific qualifications but you’ll need to;
have a commitment to promoting digital inclusion and reducing social isolation.
be friendly and approachable
respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own
have patience, empathy, and a willingness to help others
have excellent verbal and written communication skills
be able to understand complex information and explain it (verbally and writing) so that others understand it
have good IT skills including an understanding of IT devices and the internet
be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection
be willing to undertake training in your role
