Opportunity Description: Smart Triage Volunteer
Purpose of the Role:
To assist patients in using the Smart Triage system during their visit to the practice, ensuring they feel supported, confident, and at ease with the process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Assistance:
o Welcome patients and provide a friendly, approachable presence.
o Guide patients through the Smart Triage system, answering basic questions and offering step-by-step assistance as needed.
o Offer reassurance to patients who may feel anxious or unsure about using the system.
2. Encouragement and Support:
o Encourage patients to use the system independently where possible, empowering them to feel confident.
o Maintain a positive and patient-focused attitude at all times.
3. Technical Support:
o Demonstrate the use of the Smart Triage platform, including logging in, navigating menus, and submitting queries.
o Troubleshoot minor issues (e.g., navigating screens or entering information incorrectly).
o Escalate technical problems to the appropriate staff member when needed.
4. Maintaining Boundaries:
o Focus solely on assisting with the Smart Triage system; refrain from becoming involved in broader discussions about the patient’s medical care or the practice’s policies.
o Respect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
5. Feedback and Communication:
o Provide feedback to practice staff on patient experiences, including any recurring challenges patients face while using the system.
o Communicate any suggestions for improving the process based on patient interactions.

Practical considerations: Time Commitment:
Volunteers will be asked to commit to a set number of hours each week, based on availability and practice needs.
Support Provided:
• Full training on the Smart Triage system will be provided.
• Ongoing support from practice staff for troubleshooting or questions.
Additional Information:
• Will need to sign the Confidentiality Statement – provided by the practice.
• Will need online Information Governance training – provided by the practice.
