Opportunity Description: Volunteers required to join existing team with supporting community group members who may have memory issues, their families/carers and any other older adults in Tuxford and surrounding area that may be experiencing loneliness.
Duties may include serving food/drinks, clearing away and washing up. Supporting clients with provided craft activities, talking with clients. We regularly have singers and some people need support or company when dancing.
Volunteers are expected to work as part of a team, we share duties and support each other as well as our service users and their families/carers

Who we are looking for: Looking for a people person, good listener, happy to help with anything that crops up. Must have empathy, calm reactions and patience. Some training is available such as Dementia Friends but people skills are most important.
The group is entirely run by volunteers. Any experience or transferable skills or knowledge very welcome. Always happy to add activities to our calendar if people have particular skills they'd like to use to benefit our lovely user group.

Practical considerations: Tuxford is on a bus route from Retford, Newark, Ollerton. The community centre is a 5 minute walk from bus stops. There is disabled access and disabled toilet facilities.

Support for volunteers with additional needs: Volunteers with additional needs would have to bring their own carer. This would be on an individual basis as some service users require physical support from time to time and we need to ensure everyone is as safe as possible at all times.
