We are delighted to announce that our official Bolsover base has opened in Bolsover Town.
After using the shared space available at Bassetlaw Community and Voluntary Service in Worksop for the past few years, they have now taken over the lease of the old Croft Dog Groomers, at 36a Market Place, Bolsover.
The office will be a one-stop shop for anyone wishing to volunteer locally, discover voluntary groups and charities locally, and find out what local help is available to them.
Groups and charities themselves can also call upon BCVS for assistance for things such as funding, volunteer recruitment, financial advice and governance support.
The office space was officially open on Tuesday 15th November by Leader of Bolsover Council, Steve Fritchley, who came down on the day to cut the ribbon and offer his thanks and best wishes.
He added; “The opening of the BCVS office was a bright day for Bolsover and the future of the district. It was an honour not only as Leader of the Council but also as Vice Chair of Bolsover Partnership to open the new base within our district and see first-hand the enthusiasm and dedication of the people involved. We will be able to continue the excellent work in collaboration with the community and voluntary sectors through the work undertaken by BCVS.”
Steve Morris, Head of Bolsover CVS Development said;
“We are so pleased that we now have a base in Bolsover itself. We hope that by having more visibility as an organisation it will encourage more people to pop in and discover what we do and how we can help to connect them to local groups and services. We also hope it might encourage more people to volunteer at some of these groups – they are all shouting out for help so we hope that this will be another positive outcome of having the new office. We love meeting new people and we hope to connect with lots of new faces that are interested in who we are and what we do. The opening event went really well and it was the perfect example of how much value we will get from having a high street presence. Lots of people came in to see us and ask what we do and what we can help with.”.
Amongst the vistors on the day was Jennie Street, Managing Director of Rhubarb Farm in Langwith who said;
“It is wonderful to now have the physical presence of Bolsover Council for Voluntary Service in the district. It will help raise awareness locally of the activities of the voluntary sector and how the sector is being supported by BCVS. Rhubarb Farm really welcomes this development.”
BCVS would also like to thank Bolsover Morrisons Community Champion for the donation of cakes and biscuits for the opening day.
The Bolsover office will be open every weekday from 10am – 1pm – there is no appointment necessary for anyone that wants to pop in at those times.
