***  At this time of year when it’s very chilly and the aftermath of the festive season, please don’t forget to check in with people who might not be getting out much. This came up recently at a ‘One Step at a Time’ meeting I was attending. If someone you know has gone a little quiet, it might be worth just dropping them a line or giving them a call. 🙂 ***

TLC dates for your diary:

Bassetlaw Group –

The Breakaway programme is open to 14-25 year olds with learning disabilities and autism. We use music, art, dance and drama, as well as other creative expressive arts, to increase the young people’s independence, communication, resilience and leadership skills as well as increasing their emotional literacy. We do this by exploring various topics such as the world of work, loneliness and isolation, social action, and freedom & rebellion. This leads to opportunities to share their creative pieces at community events and internal showcases.

Travel wellThe Travel Well programme is focused on making it easier for people in Nottingham to access walking and cycling opportunities.

Last year the Department for Transport announced that Nottingham will get funding to participate in a ‘social prescribing’ trial in Aspley, Beechdale, Bilborough, Bulwell, St Ann’s and Sneinton.

This will see activities like walking and cycling being offered as part of a plan to improve mental and physical health and reduce health inequalities. Travel Well is led by Nottingham City Council in partnership with the Nottingham Place-based Partnership, Nottingham Community Voluntary Service and Nottingham City GP Alliance.

Ey Up Nottingham!

BBC Radio Nottingham launched their 'Ey Up!' campaign to get Notts talking at the beginning of this week!
Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Communications director Maria Cooke talked about how the campaign has gone and if a simple 'Ey up' or 'Hello' can really make a difference to someone's day.

Why not keep up your 'Ey Ups!' to everyone you pass in the street and keep Nottingham talking! ….. Catch up on BBC Sounds to listen to Maria.
