VACANCY FOR ADMIN COVER AT TMC & LIBRARY

Misterton Parish Council is looking for administrative cover, to cover maternity leave, at The Misterton Centre & Library from January 2024. The position is for five weeks a year for up to 25 hours a week (Tuesday-Friday). National Living Wage at £12/hr is offered with full training given. This is an ideal opportunity to gain some admin experience, to get back into work after a career break, or enhance a CV. PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOG!

With darker mornings and evenings, some dog walkers have been tempted to either not pick up after their dog or to leave poo bags in the hedge, on the pavement, or in the gutter. Every year, the Parish Council issues a plea to dog owners: please clean up after your dog and dispose of the bag properly. Bassetlaw District Council backs the commitment to making the village a cleaner place to live, working with an enforcement partnership, WISE.

WISE is targeting people who deliberately drop litter and fail to clean up after their dogs as part of a five-year partnership. They can issue £100 fixed penalty notices to people for littering and dog fouling offences. REMEMBER A LOVED ONE THIS CHRISTMAS

Leave a message to or for someone you’ve loved and maybe lost this year on the Memory Tree in Misterton Parish Church. Gift tags are supplied - and all those named on the tree will be remembered in prayers at 2023’s last service of the year at the Parish Church on Sunday 24 December.

The Memory Tree is up and ready for messages. A small donation to the work of the Parish Church is appreciated. Leave it in the secure Offertory Box by the magazine rack.

BASSETLAW ACTION CENTRE: UPDATE

Bassetlaw Action Centre (BAC) is continuing to provide:

community transport for essential journeys – health appointments and shopping, for example
housing advice services, which are telephone-based primarily but face-to-face appointments are also available
a menu of Befriending services – including group befriending, telephone befriending, face to face and peer befriending
the Staying Well Programme (6-week self-management course for people with a long-term condition) available both virtually and face to face
Get Out Get Active (GOGA) service encourages people to become more active and will continue to offer one-to-one support
home support service – a domiciliary service to help people who are just starting to struggle at home (this is a paid-for service)
minibus trips – including the newly launched lunch club trips.

BAC would like to hear from anyone with a few hours to spare, who would like to volunteer to support the Action Centre to deliver essential services to local older and vulnerable people. In particular, BAC is looking for more local volunteer drivers to help people to get to health appointments and for shopping. Volunteers are paid 45p per mile for every mile they drive on behalf of the scheme.

VACANCY FOR PARISH CLERK

After a number of years in office, Parish Clerk Dave Harford has tendered his resignation. The vacancy is to be advertised: it would suit an existing clerk, someone with previous local government experience, or with transferable skills from other sectors. The role is pre-dominantly home-based with attendance at evening Council meetings on the second Thursday of the month.
